Do they look good when these CCs are just coupes?

Lexus IS 250C
The 4-door IS 250 is a fine looker; hence the transformation from a sedan to a coupe-cabriolet was somewhat disappointing. The IS 205 C needs sleeker lines, a lower roof and most certainly, a smaller boot.

Volvo C70 T5
The facelifted C70 spots the next-gen S60 sports sedan's new dramatic front styling; hence giving the C70 a refreshed sleek appearance. Hope they have fixed the poor driving experience.

Volkswagen Eox 2.0 TSI
Despite sharing mechanical bits with the humble Golf/Passat, the Eos does not have the monstrous huge windscreen like the Peugeot CCs. A fine profile marred by somewhat cheesy front styling.

Opel Astra Twintop
The windscreen is suitably sized and the roof is a well engineered 3-piece folding roof. However, the rather huge boot and more importantly the “Opel” badge just doesn’t make the cut.

This Week's Auto Feature

No longer a Serena Williams! Peugeot 308 CC
Major liposuction in the rear end gives the newly launched Peugeot 308 CC a more streamlined design. Will the rejuvenated coupé-cabriolet continues its predecessor big selling ways?

Rivals of the Peugeot 308 CC

207 CC (Since '07)
The successor to the 206 CC was improved tremendously with a much better 1.6 litre engine which is shared with the Mini and a higher quality interior. Easily the best small CC out there now.

308 CC (It's new!)
Made improvements over the 307 CC with leaps in interior quality and a rather lively 1.6 litre turbocharged engine, which is shared with the Mini. Dynamically weak, but great for cruising.

206 CC (2000-2007)
The first small-sized coupe-cabriolet to hit the market; it traded heavily on novelty and somewhat cuteness. Hugely successful despite patchy build quality and some OTT design touches.

307 CC (2003-2009)
The ungainly design was clearly due to the oversized boot that was needed to house the huge 2-piece roof. It attracted more buyers who found the 206 CC to small for rear passengers.

Much missed: 1994's Peugeot 306 Cabriolet

Peugeot and Pininfarina have been bed partners since 1951. A long term partnership that saw elegant and sophisticated cars from the French manufacturer; until 1997’s Peugeot 406 coupe. Remember the 1994 306 cabriolet? It was the 308 CC’s predecessor and we are inclined to say that it is still a looker 15 years on. That chiselled good looks are preferable to the rather fussy and borderline clumsy design of this week’s 308 CC. Peugeot, please rekindle your love life with Pininfarina.
