 s workshop at the Southern California Library! Spots are limited so please
  email your application to D'Lo by March 5th\, 2011!\n\n\nThe reasons behi
 nd this annual workshop:\n\nAccording to the Needs Assessment Survey carri
 ed out by Satrang and SAN\, there are roughly 300\,000 South Asians living
  in Southern California. Taking into account the theory that the LGBTQIQ c
 ommunity takes up 10% of any given population\, there are\, 30\,000 LGBTQI
 Q South Asians living in Southern California.\n\nAs we have witnessed in t
 he findings of the Needs Assessment Survey\, many of our community are imm
 igrants who are closeted or in isolation because there is no place for the
 m to be both South Asian and out about their sexuality/gender orientation.
  We come to realize that because of this\, many LGBTQIQ South Asians suffe
 r from mental stress and depression and feel that they cannot seek help th
 at addresses their feelings.\n\nSatrang’s mission is to provide a safe s
 pace for South Asians who are lesbian\, gay\, bisexual\, transgendered\, q
 ueer\, intersex and questioning. Much of Satrang’s programming centers a
 round providing an alternative space which our members call “another hom
 e”.\n\n\nNo prior experience is necessary\; just be open and willing to 
 create something new. Writers and non-writers welcome. The workshop will b
 e held in four sessions\, culminating in a public reading at a later date 
 where workshop participants can choose to share their work or not.\n\nWhat
