To come out or NOT to come out?

Fridae supports this interesting project, have a read and tell your story!

In this day and age, in plain 21st century, do people really STILL have the need to come out?
I mean come ON!!!!!!! We are going to Mars in the next 4 years! We’re pushing humanity to be multi-planetary (Elon Musk) and we’re trying to save the human race from Artificial Intelligence!... Coming Out of the closet should not be a necessity but rather a normality. The concept is so 2000-and-late, and who needs it in a society where Gay Rights are regarded as equal to Heterosexual counterparts. I mean, Straight people don’t have to come out to their parents…
Although we do live in a world where in some countries we celebrate being who we are for who we love and allow Gay Marriage, unfortunately in other countries we kill, we torture and we imprison them…
Why is that? Because in these places people haven’t reached the conclusion that sexuality isn’t a choice nor a disease, due to social constraints and social norms.
With such huge disparity in LGBT Rights and LGBT social attitudes between countries, some might say it is still important to come out, in order to familiarize people with the concept that a man can love a man and still be happy, and a woman can love a woman and still be ‘normal’! That’s why Projects like 100 Coming Out Stories are trying to achieve this concept of social familiarization, in order to increase social tolerance and eventually improve LGBT Rights. So that one day, there will no longer be a need for ‘Coming Out’ projects nor ‘Coming Out’ stories to be distinguished, because they will be ‘normalized’.
