Apple CEO, Tim Cook - 'Being gay is God’s greatest gift to me’

Tim Cook, the CEO of one of the world’s biggest Companies and iconic brand Apple is one of the highest profile LGBT public figures to be Out.

In an interview with CNN this week, He stated that 'Being gay is God’s greatest gift to me’. With so many issues affecting LGBT people, it is heart-warming to see a top business leader making such a statement which can be a support for others wishing to come out.

Tim Cook explained his decision to ‘come out’ and explained that he came out after seeing messages from children who were being discriminated against because of their sexuality, leading him to feel like he needed to help them. “I [went] public because I began to receive stories from kids who read something online that I was gay, and they were going through being bullied, feeling like their family didn’t love them, being pushed out of their home, very close to suicide — things that just really pulled my heart,” he said.

Let’s hope more such forward-thinking business leaders, especially in our region, will support the LGBT Community.
