Malaysia cuts 24 minutes from Queen & Freddie Mercury Film Bohemian Rhapsody

Approximately 24 minutes of the Queen & Freddie Mercury Film have reportedly been cut for its Malaysian audience.

The Malaysian Film Censorship Board removed content from the Queen biopic that involve frontman Freddie Mercury’s sexuality, in accordance with the nation's strict laws against homosexuality. Many fans and movie watchers have complained that the plot of this moving film, which deals with gay issues and in particular HIV, has thereby been spoiled.
This comes at a time when LGBTs in Malaysia have complained of rights deteriorating since the new Government came to power earlier this year, with some recent examples reported by Fridae.
