men with hiv engaging in unsafe sex

Recent reports show that more HIV-positive gay and bisexual men in West Hollywood are having unprotected sex.

Recent reports in Los Angeles County indicate the number of HIV-positive gay men who have unprotected sex in public environments are on the rise. These men engage in unprotected oral and anal sexual activity, despite knowing that they risk infecting partners with AIDS. Public environments include gay saunas, bathhouses, sex clubs, parks, restrooms and other usual cruising spots.

According to a research conducted by the University of California on a 53 HIV-positive gay and bisexual men, half of the respondents reveal having sex in a public environment with an average of 28 partners in a 6-month period. Of this group, 80% had unprotected anal sex. Only 11% of the men said they disclosed their HIV status to all their partners. These activities could lead to an alarming rate in the rise of HIV infection in the area.
