East West Theater presents "The Scream", a black comedy about a bisexual love triangle between a successful but neurotic artist, a caustic bank-clerk, and a free-spirited art gallery owner. Bob has never slept with a man; neither has Jane. Fern loves both of them, but when the three take a day-trip to the beach tensions rise to the surface. Fern is going to have to pick between Bob and Jane. But which will she choose?
This short (30 minute) play will be presented first in its original English-language, ‘New York’ version. And then adapted into a Chinese-language, ‘Shanghai’ version. How will two directors, and two casts, from different cultures interpret the same play? How much of the story can we share, and how much will be lost in translation?
