Of all the new releases this week, this is as close as you'll get
to entertainment for adults. (Not to be confused with 'adult entertainment',
which is pornography.) It's not a great romantic comedy, but if
you want to get away from the boy wizards and board games, this
one's for you.
Prime stars the ravishing Uma Thurman as Rafi, a 37-year-old
fashion photographer who meets a 23-year-old artist Bryan Greenberg.
Before they know it, they're having hot and heavy sex in her swanky
apartment. Rafi tells her psychiatrist (Meryl Streep) all about
her younger boyfriend, including about the huge size of penis (boys,
you would boast too, wouldn't you?). But both women soon discover
that Rafi's boyfriend is her shrink's son.
Though this is supposed to be a romantic comedy, there are not
that many laughs to be had. The script is somewhat thin, though
the actors are rather good. Uma Thurman plays the 'older woman'
but she doesn't look a day past 30. Togged out in the trendiest
threads, we imagine any dyke of any age would wanna do this 'older
woman'.
Meanwhile, gay boys would simply drool over Bryan Greenberg, whose
gorgeously sculpted body and boyish mannerisms make him Fridae's
screen stud du jour. There are plenty of scenes where he
goes shirtless, and they're enough to justify half the price of
your tickets.
