Now that hot baby daddy Brandon Flowers is changing diapers back home in Henderson, NV, Killers fans should listen to emerging NYC outfit The Red Romance (especially if they liked "Hot Fuss"). The Killers frontman hand-selected this band to join them on the road for their U.S. tour last spring.
The Red Romance are drummer Darren Beckett, vocalist Matthew Dublin, bassist Adam Chilenski and Herschel Gaer on guitar. The four started to rehearse and write a bunch of songs and then found themselves on the stages of various NYC clubs, including a residency at Lower East Sides hip Piano's. Both Beckett and Dublin previously played in Ambulance LTD who released an album in 2004 and got some exposure on MTV.
The sound of The Red Romance is somewhat reminiscent of The Killers with their melodic lead guitars, prominent bass lines and accompanying synths. It is lacking Flowers' theatrical vocals that I find so incredibly appealing about The Killers. But The Red Romance have put together some very solid tunes on a brand-new EP that you can listen to on their web site. My fave track is "Just One Kiss" that you can stream below.
