Apparently, there is a horrible restaurant somewhere in Sydney
that takes great pleasure in serving people the meat of endangered
species. Thus, when an old man is murdered in Thailand for trying
to protect a white elephant from being eaten, his son (Tony Jaa)
travels all the way to Sydney to avenge his death, kill the murderers
and destroy the restaurant.
Tony Jaa, if you don't know, is Thailand's answer to Jackie Chan.
This human dynamo made action movie-lovers everywhere sit up and
take notice of him when he kicked a million asses in the terrific
Thai action blockbuster Ong Bak. This new film is directed
by Prachya Pinkaew, who also directed Ong Bak. But somehow,
the action sequences — though still very good — are
not as raw, realistic and thrilling.
There is still, however, one truly mesmerising sequence where Tony
starts from the bottom of a 5-storey building and beats up tonnes
of guys on his way up to the 5th floor. The entire sequence is shown
in a single take without any cuts. Amazing!
