Summer approaches and the season of the blockbuster looms ahead of us — but what on earth to watch while waiting for the year's popcorn fare? Have no fear! Fridae Movie Club always has some choice recommendations!

Our pick of the week is Snow White and the Huntsman, this year's second live action adaptation of the Grimm Brothers' classic fairy tale — this time done as a very serious fantasy epic complete with lots of CGI, pitched battles, big speeches and ancient prophecies. And oh yes, Kristin Stewart will be our saviour from a CGI'ed Charlize Theron as an evil Queen intent (in no particular order!) on ending patriarchy, destroying the world, and attaining eternal life and youth.

If you prefer lighter entertainment, you can't go wrong with Second Chance, a French romantic comedy about a wildly successful marriage counsellor who is himself cursed to bring bad luck to all his girlfriends — and whose male BFFs all end up suspected of being gay. This guy, his love interests, and his general pals just can't get a break!
