Pekanbaru summons café managers over video officials link to LGBT

Municipal enforcers seek clarification after a café video circulated, while management describes an ordinary music night.

Pekanbaru’s municipal enforcement agency has summoned the managers of Kafe Laksamana Muda over a video that officials described as LGBT-related. Its chief said officers did not find the reported activity during their visit.

Desheriyanto, head of Satpol PP, said officers had returned to the café after an inspection on 19 October, according to a 20 October report by KlikMX. Managers are being asked to bring the people appearing in the video for clarification.

In a preliminary account relayed by Desheriyanto, management said the video dated from 18 October, when the café was hosting its usual music entertainment. The people shown were visitors, management said.

Desheriyanto said closure could follow if management was found to have organised the activity. If customers had initiated it, he said the agency could consider a warning to the managers.

The agency said it still needed clarification before deciding what action to take.
