Alanis Morissette has described herself as pansexual during an appearance on the Handsome podcast, released on 3 November.

Pansexual describes someone whose attraction to others is not limited by sex or gender, according to LGBTQ+ organisation Stonewall.

The conversation had turned to the heartbreak behind Morissette’s songs when co-host Fortune Feimster asked whether it had ever made her want to be a lesbian. Morissette answered that she was pansexual. When Tig Notaro asked again, she confirmed: “I am.”

Notaro joked that Morissette should have opened the episode with that information. The singer had her own explanation for the timing: “I like to leave it for the epilogue.”
