Hong Kong Pride lists new November Rainbow Market with registration required

The organisers now list a 28 November gathering in Kwun Tong, following the cancellation of the earlier Central Market event.

Hong Kong Pride is listing a new Rainbow Market for 28 November in Kwun Tong, following the cancellation of its earlier Central Market event.

The organisers’ current announcement puts the Saturday gathering at noon to 7pm, with free admission. It’s open only to HK Priders, and people wishing to attend are asked to use a combined membership and event registration form on the official website.

Places are limited. Successful registrants will receive the venue details by email before the event, so the public listing gives the district rather than a street address. Anyone making plans around it should wait for that confirmation before arranging the last leg of their journey.

The new arrangements give readers who had set aside 14 November a different date to consider. That earlier Rainbow Market was cancelled after the Central Market venue booking fell through, as Fridae reported on 15 October. At the time, the organising committee said it was still working on new plans.

In the current announcement, the organisers acknowledge disappointment and frustration over the difficulty of holding inclusive LGBTQ+ events. They still want to bring people together: “every time we gather, we’re paving the way to be seen.”
