This fairly entertaining B-grade horror film stars John Lynch as a poor farmer who allows one of his cows to be used in a DNA experiment. But when the cow goes into labour and delivers a calf, the latter is filled with nasty parasites that wreak havoc on the Irish cattle farm. John has to run for his life...
For a first feature by writer-director Billy O'Brien, Isolation is quite a well-crafted film. The film is soaked in mood and atmosphere, successfully generating dread and suspense almost throughout its 95-minute runtime. O'Brien carefully builds up the fear factor, and then hits you on the head with a big scare. The actors aren't bad either, with special kudos to John Lynch for his utterly convincing lead performance.
Although naysayers will call it cliched and predictable, horror fans will enjoy parts of this film.
