The Atlanta Dream beat the Golden State Valkyries 79–65 at Chase Center on 19 October, levelling the WNBA Finals at one game each.
Gabby Williams finished with 14 points for Golden State. Angel Reese led Atlanta with 27, according to the Valkyries’ game report. Williams was the only Golden State starter to reach double figures, although the home side’s bench outscored Atlanta’s reserves 33–11.
With the teams level at 40–40 in the third quarter, Atlanta began a 29–8 run that opened a 21-point lead during the fourth. Golden State could not recover. Kiah Stokes recorded four blocks and 11 rebounds for the Valkyries.
Fridae’s earlier report covered Williams’s 26-point performance in Golden State’s 68–64 opening win. The team’s July All-Star coverage identified New York Liberty guard Marine Johannes as her partner.
The best-of-seven series now moves to Atlanta. Game 3 is scheduled for 21 October at State Farm Arena, tipping off at 5pm Pacific time. For readers in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taipei, that is 8am on Thursday 22 October.
