Watch: Trans mom in Singapore on escaping abusive partner and adopting a son

It’s a country where the law is set against LGBTI people – but people do find happiness, as a new video reminds us.

Transgender former performer Jada lives in Singapore with her son Raiyan and is in love with her new partner, Addi.
But it wasn’t always this way.
‘I had a previous boyfriend. He became a jerk when he became popular, he got famous. He started being very abusive, mentally and emotionally. So we broke off. But that doesn’t stop me from believing in love,’ Jada shares.
Her son Raiyan was born to her cousin and has given her stability.
‘He means the world to me,’ she says.
The video was made by the people behind the Asia LGBT Milestone Awards which are being presented today in Bangkok.
