ASEAN Pride music festival to be held for LGBT rights

The second annual ASEAN Pride music festival will be held in Hanoi in June by the US Embassy and CAMA Vietnam

This years ASEAN Pride festival sets to surpass the 4,000 attendees of the inaugural celebration last year. The festival takes place at the American Club on Hai Ba Trung Street on June 20.

With the mantra of "celebrating family" this year performers will include S indie rock band Thao Nguyen & The Get Down Stay Down, Malaysia’s O.J. Law, Thai girl rockers Yellow Fang, Vietnamese transgender pop sensation Huong Giang Idol, Ho Chi Minh City’s COCC, To Lam and his high-heel dance troupe, DJ Lotus Disco, and more.

ASEAN Pride 2015 promises to showcase the quality and diversity of American and South East Asian musicians and create a safe space to celebrate the LGBT community of Vietnam and the region.

ASEAN Pride is working closely with The Closet on the arts area of the festival. This is a public space showcasing arts and cultural aspects of the LGBT community in Vietnam.
