Watch: Some of David Bowie’s most fantastic LGBTQ moments

In homage to the late great rock star who’s androgynous, daring yet utterly beautiful style encouraged and told us all its more than OK to be who we are.

Widely regarded as Bowie’s coming out as bisexual song, this single from 1972 appears to concern a gay relationship in which the narrator informs his boyfriend not to worry about the he’s with because he is “only dancing” with her.

     

 

In 1986 Bowie played the Goblin King in Jim Henson’s movie Labyrinth. The dark yet fantastically glam-rock children’s movie has an air of The Wizard of Oz and proved very popular with LGBT audiences.

 

    

Some of Bowie’s most fantastic drag work appeared in the music video for Boys Keep Swinging (1979). True to his shape-shifting style, Bowie
