Gay Party Legend in Thailand Reflects on a Career in Entertainment

Ken Kreangsak Leing discusses four years of high-end gay parties in Bangkok.

As the founder of G-Spot Entertainment, Ken Kreangsak Leing is known for his Bangkok parties, complete with “drag queens, hot men, drinks and amazing DJs.

”He recently sat down with The Bangkok Post to talk about his journey from a teenage bartender trying to meet “cute white guys” in the Thai capital to becoming a PR director in hospitality to a planner creating parties for the gay community through his firm G-Spot Entertainment.

Perhaps his most well known event is Sunday Gay Night at Maggie Choo’s, a Bangkok club. It has been running for four years and is targeted for the “gay high-end market.”

His challenge, Leing said, is people’s perceptions of what his dos involve.

“When you say you're a gay party organiser, people always make a face,” he told The Bangkok Post. “In their head when we talk about gay party they think it's just a guy dancing in underwear on the stage.”

In Thailand, Ken Kreangsak Leing said that the LGBT community is “generally accepted,” but there is a need “to promote equality such as same-sex marriage and PrEP,” the drug to prevent HIV.

One of his goals is to “bring back Thailand Pride,” which he hopes to achieve in 2019 with G-Spot Entertainment.
