HONG KONG PRIDE - SAVE THE DATE! SATURDAY NOVEMBER 17TH

It is great to see so many LGBT Festivals being held over the region and the 2018 Hong Kong Pride Parade will be held on Saturday, November 17th at 2pm.

The Hong Kong Pride has been held for many years, and has been running alongside the Hong Kong’s Pink Dot Festival over the last five years. The theme for this year’s Hong Kong Pride Parade is “Call for the law, equality for all”.  The organisers make the point that to allow people of different genders and sexual orientations to live as equals in society is a global trend. Yet, Hong Kong citizens remain unprotected by its laws against sexual orientation discrimination.

According to recent figures published by The University of Hong Kong’s Public Opinion Programme, a majority of over two-thirds of Hong Kong’s citizens supports legislative change. This shows that the truth will not be buried amid conservative groups’ smear campaigns, wise citizens choose to stand on the side of equality and harmony.

The Hong Kong Pride Parade will start in the shopping area of Causeway Bay and end at Edinburgh Place, where there will be various performances and exhibition booths.  There will also be a Pride after-Party!

Hong Kong Pride has been running since 2004, with gradually increasing attendance, and last year’s Pride Parade attracted an estimated 10,000 attendees.
