Virgin Australia drops Royal Brunei Airlines after country passed brutal anti-gay laws

The pressure of boycotts is growing and Virgin Australia is now the second company so far to cut ties with the Sultan of Brunei-owned airline.

Virgin Australia ended a deal with Royal Brunei Airlines over the country’s passing of laws that could see gay people stoned. Brunei, a tiny oil-and-gas-wealth nation on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia, which gained independence from the UK in 1984, earlier this week introduced the death penalty for queer sex.
