Pride organisers are due to gather in Phuket from 29 October to 1 November for InterPride’s first General Meeting & World Conference in Asia. A separate pre-conference takes place on 28 October.
The meeting at Duangjitt Resort & Spa in Patong is being organised with Phuket Pride, FOR-SOGI and Bangkok Pride. InterPride’s programme includes workshops and regional and identity-based caucuses.
The pre-conference puts transgender, nonbinary, gender-nonconforming and intersex people, alongside Black, Indigenous and other people of colour, at the centre of discussion. InterPride says people joining in solidarity are welcome too.
A 13 October announcement from Thailand’s public broadcasting service in Phuket describes planned workshops on advocates’ wellbeing, misinformation and work under conflict or legal restrictions. Other subjects include Thai marriage equality, workplace inclusion, sport and conversations across generations.
Those topics reach into the work behind a Pride event: how organisers look after themselves, respond to misleading claims and make room for people whose needs can be overlooked.
Readers interested in a particular session should check the organisers’ current programme. Registration deadlines shown on the main page have passed, so it’s worth checking availability before making travel plans.
