Filmed entirely in the red light district of Chow Kit in Kuala
Lumpur, this hard-hitting and controversial Malaysian film follows
the lives of a group of transexuals who have been rejected by their
own families and have learnt to rely on each other.
While the title translates directly as "Open Fire", it
is street lingo for "having sex with a client". It depicts —
in sometimes excruciating detail — the squalor and sadness
of their lives, from facing the police raids and daily prejudices,
to their hormone treatments and drug use.
