spore's necessary stage to present 'mardi gras'

Singapore theatre company, The Necessary Stage, will stage Mardi Gras, a play about a group of people wanting to organise Singapore's first Pride Parade.

Starring well-known local TV personalities including Hossan Leong, Jimmy T, VJ Rick Tan and with special guest appearances by Kumar and Irene Ang, Mardi Gras is set to be the funniest gay play this year.

The madcap comedy written by The Necessary Stage's resident playwright, Haresh Sharma and directed by Alvin Tan, also TNS' artistic director, the play will explore the issues related to organising Singapore's first gay march, the relations between its characters and whether the very event that is supposed to show their unity will tear them apart.
