Boyzone remembers Stephen Gately in new video

Featuring vocals by the late Stephen Gately, "Gave It All Away" is the Irish group's first track since the singer's death last October.

The Irish band Boyzone’s new single “Gave It All Away” features the late Stephen Gately, who died of natural causes last October at the age of 33 while on vacation with his partner in Spain.

Stephen Gately (above) was the first member of a "boyband" to come out in June 1999 after he discovered someone was trying to sell a story to the tabloids about his being gay.

The Mika-penned song features the last ever recorded vocals and footage of late singer who sang, "I'll learn to live before I die, I'll learn to love and learn to try, not to give it all away" in the opening line.

Boyzone frontman, Ronan Keating, spoke about the tragic irony of the opening lyrics: "We recorded this song 18 months, nearly two years ago, and back then it was just a song with words," Keating told news.com.au.

"Now it has more meaning than any other song we've ever recorded. His opening line - it's just outrageous, it's just mental."

The emotional video, which Keating describes as "incredibly raw," features the remaining four Boyzone members weeping while writing goodbye letters to their friend.

Gave It All Away will be released in March, along with Boyzone's latest album, Brother.
