what's on at nation02

Thursday, August 8 will see a one-of-a-kind party in Singapore with a stellar DJ line-up and an unprecedented laser production.

Nation02, the second annual event to be held at the Fountain Gardens and Musical Fountain in Sentosa, will feature 2 dance areas with top Sydney DJs Luke Leal (long time veteran of the world-famous Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras) and Mark Alsop (who DJs recurrently at the Mardi Gras Recovery "Frisky" parties); DJ Lisa C. and DJ Borhead from Kinemat Productions, co-organiser of the event.

DJ Luke Leal who is considered one of Sydney's most prolific and versatile DJs, loved for his energetic and uplifting style, is also a prominent part of Sydney's renown queer party scene, with countless performances at Mardi Gras, Sleaze Ball, Hand In Hand And Frisky under his belt. He is currently resident at Arq, Home, The Midnight Shift, Stonewall, Family (Brisbane) As Well As The Ice, Queer Nation And Beyond (Melbourne) Parties. He has also released two mixed compilations; the '2000 Mardi Gras Party CD' and 'Free Vol.9' (2001) and is currently compiling his next release in conjunction with Ice.

DJ Mark Alsop who has once played to 17,000 bodies grinding to the sound of an entrancing beat and is currently residing at the New Civic Hotel and the notorious Barracks Leather Bar will be playing in Singapore for the first time. Over the past 18 years, Mark has commanded DJ boxes in many of Australia's East Coast nightclubs and parties and continues to impress with his style, diversity and adaptability. In addition to his widespread DJ experience, Mark also edits and remixes for many labels including: Hot Tracks, Pride, Zomba, Discotech, Factor 3, Ace DJ remix and Central Station Records.

DJ Lisa C started her career at the infamous Zouk Singapore and later progressed to Velvet Underground before playing the circuit in Kuala Lumpur, Bali, Bangkok and Manila while she worked for MTV Asia's Representative Office for 2 years. While in Manila, Lisa also headlined the FemDom (Female Domination) DJ club tour which spanned the biggest clubs in Manila - seveneightOrange, Republic of Malate, Wherelse and Mas Y Mas. Lisa is now part of a team that hosts The Flower Party, a womyn's party in Singapore, which has become a monthly event at the smaller underground clubs in Singapore.

DJ Borhead was a little known jungle and drum n bass producer in his hometown Madrid before he was spotted and offered a contract by Singapore's leading promoter Kinemat Productions, a co-organiser of Nation02. He was billed along last year's DJ Mag's No. 1 DJ, John Digweed and Singapore's leading Progressive House DJ, Cher at the first ever 2-day dance music festival, Sentosa NYE 2001.

Partygoers will also be treated to a specially produced laser show by Entertainment Media Group (EMG) who also produced shows and laser displays for Singapore's ZoukOut, NYE 2001 and Fat Boy Slim concert; Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and the Ministry of Sound dance club in Bangkok,Thailand.
