Almost every gay man suffers from the Peter Pan Syndrome, which
is the need to feel and look forever young, never admitting that
age will catch up with him someday. And who better embodies the
attributes of Peter Pan than the age-defying man-child actor Johnny
Depp?

In this beautiful, charming and ultimately heartbreaking biopic,
Johnny plays the real-life creator of Peter Pan, J M Barrie.
Set in 1903, the movie begins with J M feeling down because
his latest play is a flop.

But one day, he chances upon a very ill widow, Sylvia Davies (Kate
Winslet), and her four sons at London's Kensington Gardens. They
immediately establish a bond, and J M would eventually be inspired
by the family to write the play and novel, Peter Pan.

Both Johnny and Kate give heart-wrenching performances, and it
is small wonder that speculations are rife that the two will receive
Oscar nominations. Their acting aside, the film itself is wonderful,
and all we gay men will be able to identify with the dandy-ish character
of J M, a man who chooses to retreat into the pleasures and
simplicity of eternal youth, while denying the pains of maturity
and all its attendant responsibilities.
