If you're into fangs, fur and claws — outside of the bedroom
— then you might enjoy the new werewolf film by Wes Craven,
the shock-and-shiver maestro who created Nightmare on Elm Street.
Otherwise, you might find this movie incredibly silly — even
though the script is filled with the smart-alecky jokes that screenwriter
Kevin Williamson (of Scream fame) is loved by horror fans
for.
Christina Ricci plays an assistant producer in Hollywood who gets
involved in car accident with her younger brother (Jesse Eisenberg).
They survive the accident, only to find deep slashes in their body
and that, days later, they start to prefer raw meat to cooked meat.
Have they become werewolves?
Logic is clawed to shreds and the fright scenes generally lack
bite.
Strictly for genre fans, although one of the main characters is
gay and the issue of gay-bashing is also examined.
