Chicken Little

Director: Mark Dindal

Starring: Zach Braff, Steve Zhan, Garry Marshall, Joan Cusack

Screening: 2005-11-29

You might have caught the cinema trailer of a little chicken dancing
to that uma Numa song. You might have thought, "Aaaw, isn't that
cutest thing ever? I must watch the cartoon when it comes out?

Well, we at Fridae care a lot about you. And we're telling you,
"Don't gooo!?That trailer might have been cuter than your f-buddy's
butt, but the film is just plain draggy.

Zach Braff (of Scrubs fame) gives the voice of Chicken
Little, a bespectacled nerd who becomes the laughing-stock of his
town when he tells people that the sky is falling down. Even his
single Dad (voice of Garry Marshall) doesn't believe a word he's
saying. It turns out, though, that there is some truth to his claims,
and it is now all up to him to save the ignorant town-folks.

Chicken Little may boast the fabulous 3-D animation of
cartoon hits like Finding Nemo and Toy Story.
But its story lacks the soul, wit and originality of the latter.
The jokes vary from the lame to the cheap to the very annoying.
Sure, the splendid visuals may impress very small children, but
anyone else hoping for 80 minutes of light cheery entertainment
will be disappointed.
