If you like to get your mind all in a knot, Lemming is the perfect movie to catch this week. It is virtually impossible to describe the movie without giving away some spoilers, suffice to say that a dinner involving an older couple and a younger couple is the start of a chain of events that gets curiouser and curiouser. And then something shocking happens midway through, and the film just takes a turn for the surreal after that.
Lemming is a seductive, surreal, and somewhat creepy movie that is extremely different from the summer blockbusters we have seen of late. Its only weakness is that it does run a little too long (over two hours) for its own good. Other than that, another notable aspect is Charlotte Rampling's performance in the movie ¡X it is one that pulls out all the stops, and Rampling's gleeful scenery-chewing is actually very entertaining to watch. This is one movie that is completely off the beaten track, but offers such an unusual cinematic experience that it may just be worth the time.
