Thai activists protest against Brunei's anti-gay laws

Southeast Asian leaders have largely kept quiet after their neighbour introduced death by stoning as a punishment for gay sex.

LGBT rights activists in Thailand protested outside the Brunei Embassy in the capital Bangkok on Tuesday (9 April), condemning Brunei’s brutal Sharia Penal Code ushered in last week, under which this Muslim-majority nation in Southeast Asia now punishes gay sex with death by stoning.
Activists on Tuesday presented a statement signed by 130 civil society groups across Southeast Asia, waving rainbow flags and presenting stones painted with rainbows.
