Thailand's film industry is totally on a roll. Consider the logistics
of this lavish historical epic made in 2001, which became the highest-grossing
film in the country's history.
Based on the true story of 16th-century Thai warrior queen Suriyothai,
this film boasts authentic location shooting, a big main cast aided
by 3,500 extras, and 160 elephants.
The story is very complicated. But if you can follows Days
Of Our Lives, there's no reason why you can't follow this.
Actress M L Piyapas Bhirombhakdi plays Suriyothai, the brave heroine
who must defend her beloved country against evil lords, an evil
ex-courtesans, evil Burma, evil elephants, evil weather... you name
it.
The movie is somewhat cartoonish and draggy, despite its magnificent
cinematography.
