Can someone please explain to us the appeal of Amanda Peet and
Ashton Kutcher? Yeah, they look cute, but they are such an obnoxious
pair of punk and punkette that it's hard to want to watch a movie
starring the both of them. Their film, A Lot Like Love,
however, isn't as bad as their off-screen persona.
It's a romantic comedy about an earnest college grad Oliverwho
meets the eccentric Emily and immediately falls for her. Though
Emily is attracted to him, she is still very much in love with her
old boyfriend and can't get over him. Oliver and Emily fool around
for a bit and go their separate ways, but a few years later, they
meet again and do the same. And a couple of years later, they do
it again. And later, again. And again.
Does this scenario sound familiar to any of you naughty GLB readers?
Perhaps, but what's also familiar are the old romantic comedy clichs
that keep popping up. All in all, A Lot Like Love is fairly
watchable, but it also A Lot Like Other Love Movies.
