There is nothing out of ordinary about Bingo (lovely Miriam Yeung),
a 30-something white-collar single woman who spends her time dining,
gossiping and visiting the spa with her girlfriends. One night,
she meets an attractive doctor (Richie Ren) in a bar. They quickly
jump into bed, where he discovers a lump in her breast. A subsequent
medical check-up reveals that it is breast cancer.
Thus begins Bingo's long and painful journey towards accepting
her illness and the possible loss of her feminine identity. Though
optimistic about a cure at first, the burden of being ill eventually
wears her down, prompting her to contemplate suicide.
Based on the novel Mourning for Breast by author Xi Xi,
Two Become One is a serious drama with moments of wry humor.
Miriam Yeung gives a strong performance as an embattled woman, while
Richie Ren gives adequate support (pun intended). Gay viewers might
want to note that up-and-coming popstar Justin Lo has a supporting
role in the movie and sings the theme song.
