Atlanta force WNBA Finals decider despite Gabby Williams’ 26 points

The Dream’s 80–69 win ties the series at 3–3. Game 7 will be Sunday morning in much of East and Southeast Asia.

Gabby Williams scored 26 points, but the Atlanta Dream kept the WNBA Finals alive with an 80–69 win over the Golden State Valkyries in Atlanta on Thursday, 29 October. The series is tied at 3–3 and will go to a deciding seventh game.

Allisha Gray led Atlanta with 23 points, including five three-pointers, while Rhyne Howard added 21. The Dream built a 31–13 lead in the first quarter and were ahead 46–26 at halftime, according to the league’s game coverage.

Williams finished with three three-pointers and three steals. Golden State cut into the deficit after the break, but Atlanta held on to force the series back to California.

The result reverses the position after Game 5, when Kiah Stokes and Veronica Burton helped Golden State to a 64–55 win and a chance to clinch the championship in Atlanta.

Williams has also shared a glimpse of her life away from the court. In its July All-Star coverage, the Valkyries identified Marine Johannes as her partner and reported Williams describing her as an “All-Star in her life”.

Golden State will host Game 7 on Saturday, 31 October, at 8pm Eastern time. For readers in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taipei, that is 8am on Sunday, 1 November; in Bangkok, it is 7am. One game will decide the championship.
