According to a report by the San Francisco Chronicle, documents which include search warrants for Robert Noel and Majorie Knoller's apartment suggest that the authorities suspect sexual abuse of one of the dogs.

Diane Whipple, was killed in her apartment hallway when two of Noel and Knoller's Presa Canarios attacked her.

While investigators theorised that the abuse could have contributed to the attack on Whipple, officials maintain that investigators found little to support that theory.

The newspaper reported that Sgt. Joe Akin found "a letter disguised as legal mail addressed to Schneider" that discusses "sexual activity between Noel, Knoller and the dog Bane."

The Pelican Bay Prison officer also reported that he "discovered communications between Noel and Knoller to Schneider that described sexual activities between Knoller and Noel and included photos and drawings of dogs and fighting dogs" as well as a photo of a male dog's genitals.

It was also reported that he saw "numerous photos of Knoller posing nude with fighting dog drawings" among the property of Schneider and cellmate Dale Bretches.
