What were the Stonewall riots?

Also known as the Stonewall uprising, this seminal moment in the history of LGBT rights in the US ignited in the early hours of 28 June 1969.

Today marks the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall uprising - a landmark date for the LGBT Community globally. The riots took place over six nights in Greenwich Village, New York City, and ignited following a police raid on a local gay bar, the Stonewall Inn.

Members of the LGBT community are fortunate we had LGBT people who are willing to risk their lives to make our lives better and to promote our rights and liberties. Thank you one and all for your determination to better our lives.

So Singapore where this site is based has equal rights? Malaysia has equal rights? Indonesia has equal rights? Brunei has equal rights? Of course they don't. You are talking about Americans and those in western countries. Not appropriate for an Asian based site I suggest.
