An anonymous anti-gay activist/group has posted a video on YouTube to protest the UK's new anti-discrimination laws as the law will be voted on in the House of Lords on Wednesday. In Melbourne, a man has been charged with 122 offences stemming from having sex with 16 men knowing that he was infected with HIV.

British anti-gay activist/group uses YouTube to protest new anti-discrimination laws
An anonymous British anti-gay activist/group has posted a video on YouTube to protest the UK's new anti-discrimination laws which will prohibit discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation in the provision of goods, facilities and services, including schools.

The 3-minute and 15-second video shows a female primary school teacher telling young students about gay and bisexual sex, encouraging experimentation, "alternative families" and having numerous mummies and daddies "all enjoying having sex with each other" to a group of small children.
The 3-minute and 15-second video erroneously claims that "the government is determined to pass a law that will, among other things, force schools to teach homosexual sex and relationships to children of all ages in schools" and the law "is being rushed through so Parliament cannot even debate it and no one can protest."

It shows a female primary school teacher telling young students about gay and bisexual sex, encouraging experimentation, "alternative families" and having numerous mummies and daddies "all enjoying having sex with each other" to a group of small children. When one of the kids starts crying, the teacher chides, "You're only crying because you're homophobic!"

The highly controversial Sexual Orientation Regulations (SOR's) have been ratified by a vote on Monday in Parliament. Despite criticism of the rushed process, the MP's voted 310 votes to 100 to pass the regulations without amendment. The law will be voted on in the House of Lords on Wednesday and, if passed in the Upper House, will come into effect in the rest of Britain April 30th. Faith based groups will have 21 months to adjust their policies accordingly.

The video is believed to be linked to Christian groups who oppose the Sexual Orientation Regulations (SORs) such as CARE, The Christian Institute and the Evangelical Alliance.

Dr Don Horrocks, head of public affairs at the Evangelical Alliance said: "We do not support discrimination against gay people. "But equally Christians don't want to find themselves coerced by law into facilitating the promotion of homosexuality."

He added: " you cannot legislate against conscience. We shall therefore be advising our members to continue to serve their communities as Christians have done for centuries unless and until the law shuts them down."

The video titled, "What The Government Doesn't Want You To Know," encourages viewers to rally outside London's Houses of Parliament on Mar 21 to protest.

A Department for Education and Skills spokesman has responded to the video, saying that "it is inaccurate to suggest that the regulations will require schools to promote gay rights or homosexuality in schools."

George Broadhead, secretary of the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association, said: "This is the biggest and most united religious campaign we have seen for a long time, and Wednesday - when the regulations go to the House of Lords for final approval - will be crunch day. If they succeed, they will have severely retarded the push for LGBT equality, and it will spur them on to other actions to push our rights back even further. If they fail, they will have been given the message loud and clear - Britain no longer wishes to be bossed about by clerics. It will be the best argument for getting the bishops out of the House of Lords once and for all. And it will send a message to the bigots that they will not prevail."

Melbourne man staged orgies 'to pass on HIV'
A Melbourne man has appeared in a Magistrates' Court charged with 122 offences stemming from having sex with 16 men knowing that he was infected with HIV.

Michael John Neal, 48, is accused of infecting two people with HIV between 2000 and 2006.

Prosecutor Mark Rochford told the court Neal's reason for infecting other men with HIV was to increase the number of men he could then continue to have unprotected sex with. He said that Neal has demonstrated an intention to infect people with HIV, "adding that not all of the people who attended his parties - whom he referred to as "conversion parties" - were aware of his intent to infect others.

When interviewed by police, Neal denied deliberately infecting people with HIV and said that he had a document from a doctor saying the chances of him infecting others was very low.

A witness who cannot be named told the court that Neal told him in 2005 that he had been targeting teenage boys in suburban toilet blocks to "breed" them a term used to describe intentionally infecting someone with HIV. Neal also allegedly wore a penis piercing to increase the rate of transmission when he had unprotected sex, the court was told.

The court also heard that the Victorian health department was told eight times in five years since 2001that Neal was deliberately trying to infect other men with HIV, according to a testimony by Victoria's Chief Health Officer, Robert Hall. The father-of-five and grandfather was reported to police only after health authorities were told in December 2005 that he possessed child pornography.

The committal hearing before magistrate Peter Reardon continues.

US Baptist minister under fire for 'gay baby' remarks
A leading figure in the Southern Baptist firmament.has incurred criticism from gay groups and fellow conservatives after he wrote in his blog that a biological basis for homosexuality may be proven, and asked whether parents might be open to trying future prenatal techniques that would reverse homosexuality.

The article, published March 2 on Rev. R. Albert Mohler, Jr.'s personal web site, carried a long but intriguing title: ''Is Your Baby Gay? What If You Could Know? What If You Could Do Something About It?''

Citing an article titled "Is Your Baby Gay?," in the pop-culture magazine Radar, he related a scenario set out by the writer asking if a woman, who was told that her unborn baby boy is gay, would wear a hormone patch on her abdomen to "reverse the sexual orientation inscribed in his chromosomes."

Mohler said he would strongly oppose any move to encourage abortion or genetic manipulation of fetuses on grounds of sexual orientation, but he would endorse prenatal hormonal treatment - if such a technology were developed - to reverse homosexuality. He compared the treatment to be no different, in moral terms, to using technology that would restore vision to a blind fetus.

In a follow-up article on his blog, the president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville acknowledged that he irked many fellow conservatives by suggesting that a biological basis for homosexuality may be proven as many conservative Christians believe that homosexuality is a "sin" and "disorder" can be overcome through prayer and counselling.

The news has prompted gay rights groups to accuse Mohler of hypocrisy.

"He's willing to play God," said Harry Knox, a spokesman on religious issues for the Human Rights Campaign, the largest gay-rights group in the US. "He's more than willing to let homophobia take over and be the determinant of how he responds to this issue, in spite of everything else he believes about not tinkering with the unborn."

"What bothers me is the hypocrisy," said Jennifer Chrisler of Family Pride, a group that supports gay and lesbian families. "In one breath, they say the sanctity of an unborn life is unconditional, and in the next breath, it's OK to perform medical treatments on them because of their own moral convictions, not because there's anything wrong with the child."

Church of Sweden will perform gay weddings
The Church of Sweden has announced on Tuesday will perform wedding ceremonies for same-sex couples if the Swedish parliament changes the current legislation to include same-sex marriage. The church already performs blessings of civil unions.

In Sweden, civil unions have been legal since 1995 and confer most of the benefits and obligations of marriage. In August last year, a parliamentary committee concluded that the civil-union law was outdated and recommended that the government allow full same-sex marriage.

Sweden is found to have the second-largest public approval ratings for legalising same-sex marriage, according to the Angus Reid Global Monitor which conducted a poll regarding EU integration and social attitudes. It found that 71 percent of Swedes approve of same-sex marriage and 51 percent of Swedes approve of adoption for same-sex couples.

The church would join the United Churches of Christ, which already celebrates same-sex weddings, as do some Reform Jewish synagogues and the Unitarian Church and Metropolitan Community Churches in North America.

Same-sex marriage is currently legal in the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, South Africa, Spain and the state of Massachusetts, while Israel this year began recognising same-sex marriages performed outside the country.

It's nice to see the Christians on defensive on this issue, rather than on the attack.

Since s377a is a British hand-me-down, I wonder whether we will now also adopt the anti-discrimination law in the footsteps of our colonial forefathers?

The rest of the world has moved on...except us here in the sleepy backwaters of the Straits of Malacca. Yawn!

Melbourne man staged orgies 'to pass on HIV'
--------------------------------------------------------

- often this has to do with revenge and irresponsibility so that there is a increasing pool of postive breed. And nobody should point a finger at one another because everyone is in the same boat.

- that is a reality in life as I have known of positive people going to saunas, parties, and hopefully the message of SAFE SEX sings in those who are engaging in sex with anyone.

Remember, the onus of safe sex is mutual and if you dont insist, dont blame the other positive guy.

Unfortunately, it is despicable of this Aussie man to target on teenagers who are usually naive and weak to say no.

Humm intresting stories. Well im not sure how these programs will really be taught so its hard for us to judge them. School should educate children on tolerance. We should ask some questions about this program.. Such as.. 1.What information will be coverd in this program? 2. Is this lesson compulsory? 3. Will all sides be coverd from straight to gay to bi to transexuals?? In many ways morals should not be taught by the school its up to the parents. I dont think its right to aim this program at very young children they cant really understand it anyways. What does bother me is the fact that the anti-gays in Uk are trying to take away rights. The uk actually has a high rate of gay bashings. I feel that this anit-gay rights group are spinning their wheels. In time gay rights and freedome will happen its just the way things will be.

The UK bill is not homegrown legislation and has nothing to do with a full swing of attitudes, but rather is it an enactment of EU legislation on anti-discrimination and the UK - usually late with incorporating EU law into national law - is just following suit...

Other countries - incl. Germany, Denmark, Austria and others have already enacted it years ago, albeit in the case of federal Germany and Denmark large portions originate from these countries...

The vote in the House of Lords of the UK-enactment is merely symbolic... if the UK misses the deadline, UK citizens may bring an action in front of the ECJ in Luxemburg...

it is that simple...

UK LAW

phoenix9 - the film is untrue, it is PROPAGANDA, to create fear and alarm. The government is not changing the National Curriculum.

The second video has had all except one of the balancing remarks by the interviewer and of Peter Tatchell edited out, as well as the reference to CCTV being supported by the fascist party in Britain which appear in the full interview.

It also takes quite some googling and delving into their website to find out which tiny sect the "bishop" belongs to!

To add to what Terrificturk said...

Yes you are correct, the SOR bill is not home grown, but it wasn't home grown anywhere in Europe, it was pushed as a part of EU legislation in the EU collectively. And accepting the SOR legislation would be one of the pre-requistes for EU membership, like abolishing the death penalty.

However, what is really hypocritically is that the EU has exempted new members Crotia and Romania (Where Homesexuality is still illegal, punishable by a prison sentence) from having to adopt the law.

They should have to stuck to their guns as they said at the start, by undermining the law for a few countries they are undermining it for the rest of Europe.

Yes, true... although the proposals for the EU bill came from member states on the continent, Germany and Netherlands being two of those instigating countries for the bill...

Re new members: Croatia is not a member, but is negotiating its membership... Waht is true is that many of the eastern European states are seen as unfit for the EU by a large majority of ppl in western Europe... countries such as Romania, Poland, Bulgaria and Slovakia are corrupt, very poor and as far as GLBT issues go, they r bigger homophobes than the US (if thats feasible at all!)... but the accession commissioners were the ones doing a bad job and ppl here r paying for it! :(

I find it very distrubing that the Christians feel it necessary to create an incredibly scaremongering video in order to continue their denial of human rights to gay people. The church itself ackonowledges a 3% gay population in the UK yet the church refuses to allow gays the right for equality.

A quick read of the regulations http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/jt200607/jtselect/jtrights/58/58.pdf does not force schools to teach gay sex or gay lifestyles. The regulations merely protect us from those bigotted (usually religious) types that deny gays the basic level of legal protection that they themselves demand

In both straight & gay worlds, there are people with stds who are on the prowl for multiple sex partners. Everyone should exercise sound judgements when you decide whether or not to have sex with many different people. In the pre-condom era, sex was carefree. Nowadays sex is no longer simple.

The fundamentalist Christians in the U.S. are going nuts. They constantly invent new methodologies to prevent people from being gay or to convert gays to straights.

Wearing a hormone patch on a pregnant mother's abdomen to reverse the sexual orientation inscribed in her unborn baby's chromosomes sounds like a science fiction story. There are no connections between the mother's skin, the hormone pad, & the formation of her unborn baby's genetic sequences. To be specific, the hormone pad comes in contact with the mother's skin & not her baby.

What else will they come up next?
18. 2007-03-22 08:01
What's happenning in Great Britain, the U.S., & Singapore enforces the fact that fundamentalist Christians have a deep hatred toward gay people.

Hopefully, gay-friendly & gay Christian Churches will be able to counter strike & reveal to the world the true intention of the radical fundamentalist Christians.

Now, the Roman Catholic Church could learn a thing or two from the Church of Sweden :-) !
20. 2007-03-22 14:44
Honestly, everyonce can see that this video is highly discriminating against gay people and everthing it portray is untrue and totalli bias. It would be nice if someone can remake the same video and carry an opposite image i.e. teacher showing a bunch of children that straight people having orgies, or how daddy would sneak out at night and have sex with next door auntie or lady down the street...talking about many "mommies and daddies"! What a piece of crack!

The so call "Men of God" are as much a sinner as everyone else, especially by turning men against each other, breeding lies and create havoc. They have got nothing better to do except running around and try to make themself seems important. I thinnk both of them likes to be the center of attention and on camera too! But both of them need to loose some weight first maybe Richard Simmon can help.

As God's children, we should try to forgive those miserable souls. We should love thy enemies...Let's live happily ever after.....

The House of Lords backed the reform last night, and threw out an atempt to stop the new regulations, by a comfortable margin.

The Equalities Minister, a conservative Catholic and member of the Opus Dei sect, has welcomed the result, though she originally sought an exemption for publicly funded Catholic adoption agencies, which the government rejected.
22. 2007-03-22 19:16
The regulation was passed with a 168 majority to 122 oppossed.

UK Equalities Minister, Ruth Kelly gets a lot of criticism for being a conservative cathlotic who views homosexuality as immoral. However, personally i feel alot of fundemental christians have alot to learn from her.

Unlike President Bush, she doesn't wear her homophoia on her sleeve. She doesn't preech about her views, and while she is able to opposse laws granting homosexual equality, she simiply requests to be excluded.

Many people will never accept us, but if they do then I do believe Ruth Kelly's actions are something to go buy. Though it is sad that she cannot accept us, she is most definitly making an effort to be politically correct.

These protesters are cRaZy! They read the Bible but do not even understand it. It was written by people who were told by Jesus what to write. One problem: Those who wrote the stories put their own spin on it and and then they wrote it down. Which is why we see stories about rape (ie: If a women dosent cry for help when she is getting raped then SHE should be stoned to death). Figure that one out!! I'm Christian - but I think that these protesters should be put in gaol.

Safe sex always, no slutty, promiscous, easy sex with strangers........

Common sense folks.........

Having gay son? So what ?

Acceptance and love, that's all that he needs........

the Earth is full, many innocent babies born from ignorance pathetic parents who can't provide the best things for their kids............

Kids are not considered as assets anymore... but liability if they grow up on the wrong ways....

Why we must bear this pain....... ???

I like tygertyger's comment.

The only thing I would change is the last sentence:

rather than making an effort to be politically correct, she's making an effort to be respectful and a decent human being.
