p>We have barely escaped from The Island before another
action blockbuster has flown onto the radar — Stealth
promises to be as loud and action-packed as The Island.
Also, there’s eye candy in the movie that caters to the full
spectrum of the GLB crowd, so there’s really no reason not
to catch the movie, unless you’re looking for something intellectual.
Directed by Rob Cohen (The Fast and The Furious, xXx),
Stealth is set sometime in the near future, where technology
has advanced far enough for the creation of some rather cool-looking
stealth fighter planes. Three pilots (the yummylicious Josh Lucas,
the boobalicious Jessica Biel, and the Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx)
are involved in a top secret military operation, and are told that
they will have a new wingman joining them.
The trio is not receptive to the idea of an addition to their team;
and it’s not a human pilot, but rather a stealth fighter with
a mind of its own. And it does not want to play nice. Faced with
a rogue fighter that has enough weapons to take out a whole city,
the team has to stop the plane before it does serious damage.
Rob Cohen manages to execute some pretty nifty CGI, and the action
comes fast and furious (no pun intended), enough to make one forget
about the gaping loopholes in the plot. However, if you’re
prone to motion sickness, be prepared for a bumpy ride — many
scenes in the air are very shakily filmed, so bring along a plastic
bag… just in case.
