Gay Couples win weddings in California, USA.

Many foreign media have reported that 10 pairs of gay couples in China have won a competition  held by Alibaba e-commerce platform on Valentine’s Day. Their prize is to travel to California in the United States of America this summer for their weddings

This event is held by Taobao. A gay website ‘Light Blue’ stated that the entries were eligible from all ages, all nationalities, all races and LGBT groups. The process started on January 23, with couples use the Blued app. They provide their names, contact information, photos and a "video of love" on the Taobao website. Anyone can sign up to participate by sending ‘Likes’.
On Valentine's Day, the 10 pairs of couples who got the most ‘Likes’ will have the opportunity for a wedding in California.
‘We hope to evoke respect and understanding of homosexuality, gay marriage despite it not being recognized in China, but in the United States and some other countries it is accepted and is legally binding’ Taobao representive said in an interface news interview.
According to data provided, a total of more than 400 pairs of same-sex couples enrolled between February 6 to 9 and nearly million Taobao users clicked to ‘Like’ them, with a total of 75,069 votes for the winning candidates.
Before 1997 China considered homosexuality as a crime and it was not until 2011 that homosexuality was not considered a mental illness. However, there is still widespread social discrimination and persecution against homosexuals.
