Fridae and Stark Mobile Technologies partnership to deliver leading mobile and app platform to Asia's LGBT community

Fridae and Stark Mobile Technologies partnership further signifies the world's first Global Affinity Alliance that seamlessly integrates global partner websites.

The following is a media release issued by Fridae and Stark Mobile Technologies on Jun 11, 2013:

Fridae.asia, Asia's preeminent LGBT website, today announced a partnership with Stark Mobile Technologies, a premier U.S.A. based web and mobile platform provider to the LGBT market. The partnership will deliver a best in class technology platform for Fridae’s customers, with equally high performance on their website, mobile site, iPhone app, Android App and Windows App. This partnership also signifies the world's first Global Affinity Alliance that seamlessly integrates global partner websites.

Paul Thompson, Chairman of Fridae, said: “Stark Mobile Technologies has developed what is considered to be the most advanced technology platform for LGBT dating and social networking. Coupled with Fridae’s popularity and brand equity in the Asia-Pacific region, this partnership extends the service for Fridae members and supports our mission of empowering the LGBT community in Asia.”

As part of the deal, brokered by LGBT Capital, Stark Mobile Technologies becomes a major shareholder in Fridae, and will provide technology and infrastructure support.

“We are very excited to be working with Fridae, who are the market leaders for gay dating in Asia. Their great reputation and market knowledge will help bring our innovative social networking technology to a staggering number of people, bringing the global LGBT community a little closer,” said Peter Gill, President of Stark Mobile Technologies.

Stark Mobile Technologies has a number of other brands on its platform including GuySpy and Gay.com, and is looking to further build its Global Affinity Alliance. It is anticipated that the new platform will be released with many additional benefits to the LGBT community in September 2013.

If this makes Fridae more solid financially, then it is good news. But it seems to increase the focus on dating rather than also improving on delivering news, and campaigning for reform, which are also important to gay people.

With 1 million hits a month, I'd also like to know if Fridae will still be fully reporting on developments in Singapore and other countries that may bring in regulation of news sites.

P.S. I thought Stark Technologies was a fictional company featured in the Ironman movies ?!

Tim1975, Well, you know Fridae has been to and back from Cloud 9 for a while...now is repair time !

I experienced the "development" of Gay.Com; an event that totally changed the 'atmosphere' pf Gay.com and quickly lost me as a member.

Like Tim1975, if it makes Fridae financially sound, that is good. If it results in the Fridae-feel being subsumed into Stark's vision (North American-style) of the best of a gay world, then that may be bad.

Starks' commercialisation of Gay.com may have been good for Stark's bank account. Its intrusions into my privacy were intolerable. (Don't even start me on the subject of tracking cookies.)

I hope that Fridae will continue to control its own destiny. If it can't, then this may well be the beginning of the end for the unique Fridae experience.

Dating is all fine and dandy but I think the importance of content delivery such as news, events, service annoucements, membership or online purchases should not be underestimated. Beyond the aforementioned concerns about its potential to keep fridae in the black financially, does also it help fridae reach the next level in its vision/mission to 'empower LGBT Asia?"

Nothing wrong with launching an online app but does fridae hope to achieve anything else with it besides letting the dating service go mobile? I do not think it necessary to have an app just for the sake of having an app. Tribes are still in beta and a tad glitchy. Would it be better addressing that or perhaps scrapping it completely in labour of the app (if it really means so much to fridae)?

Just wondering.

Are they seriously think Fridae is levered with Jack'd or Grindr (I fucking hate Grindr, though)? This site targets Asians and Asian-lover only... that's a very small pool of clients. Plus, in term of sexual hierarchy, Asian guys are also put in the bottom. So that's another disadvantage. Fridae has lost A LOT of hot, sexy users, whom had made Fridae unique, over the years. Honestly I can understand why. Now Fridae only has scrawny Asian twinks like me and a certain group of creepy users that shall not be named here. My advice? First of all, LOWER your price. Even sell at a loss to lure more clients. You can also host some meet-ups or parties (I'm sure it will be another f***-fest like a lot of gay parties) like Gcircuit, for example. Use this site to be more of a life-style/community where there are professionals helping Asian guys to be more confident, healthy and interactive to the community. Fridae has power to make gay Asians to be visible in the LGBT map, so I wish you would use all of its potential. Good luck!
