pet shop boys want to play at spore 'mardi gras'

Gay pop icons Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe tell a Singapore paper that they would perform in the country if there was something similar to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

Openly gay pop duo Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, more commonly known as the Pet Shop Boys, told Today newspaper that they would play at Singapore's Mardi Gras - if the island had one, that is.

Tennant told the paper: "Well, I don't really like Mardi Gras because it is clichd but if Singapore were to have a Mardi Gras, the Pet Shop Boys will come and play," to which the paper advised: "Get real, boys."

The response came after the reporter's negative reply when Lowe asked if Singapore had gay parties like Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

Tennant added that he realised homosexual acts is banned in Singapore only when he arrived on Sunday and said that he wouldn't have performed in the city-state had he known sooner.

Will someone please tell them about Nation02?!
