Tasmania’s House of Assembly has passed an amended conversion-practices bill and sent it to the Legislative Council.
Parliament’s live proceedings guide records that MPs agreed to the bill with amendments in committee on 29 October, then approved its third reading. The official bill page also dates lower-house passage to 29 October.
This follows Wednesday’s 22–10 second-reading vote, which Fridae reported yesterday. That vote backed the proposal in principle; today’s result completes its passage through the lower house.
The Legislative Council is the next stop. Parliament’s progress page records no Council passage or royal assent, so the bill has not become law. The table marks amendments as accepted but does not detail them.
In a letter reported on 27 October, parents of transgender and gender-diverse children urged MPs to keep gender identity within the proposed protections.
