Human Dignity Festival kicks off its second annual human rights conference in Hong Kong today. 

Produced at a cost of over HK$110,000 (US$14,000) without government or charity funding, organisers say they are HK$77,000 (US$10,000) short and are appealing for funds.

Celebrating its 18th anniversary, the Hong Kong Lesbian and Gay Film Festival will feature over 60 films at Palace IFC, Broadway Cinematheque and AMC Festival Walk from Nov 22 to Dec 02.

Reporting an increase in new HIV infections in the first quarter this year among gay men in Hong Kong, a government consultant also warned that prevalence of the disease in this group could hit 30 percent by 2020 if left to its own devices. HIV prevalence in this group is estimated at four percent now.
