Release: 2006-08-01

Whether you are going to enjoy Tokyo Drift depends on what your expectations are — are you looking for a meaningful plot and believable character development, or are you looking for some insane drifting and racing action? Good news if it is the latter, because in that aspect, Tokyo Drift satisfies. In oodles.

Sean Boswell (Lucas Black) escapes to Japan to avoid a jail sentence after wrecking his car in an illegal street car race, but old habits die hard. Sean gets involved in drift racing, and of course gets into trouble with the Yakuza after losing a race. In order to pay off his debts, Sean needs to enter the world of drift racing and become good at it.

As you can see it is really not much of a plot, but Tokyo Drift excels in its drift racing sequences, and if you thought Initial D (the movie) had great races, Tokyo Drift will enthrall. Look past the hammy dialogue, thin storyline and mediocre acting and there is actually some merit to this racing film. Also, it does not hurt that Lucas Black is a pretty yummy man. Mmmmmm.
