Casshern is a stylish-looking sci-fi thriller from Japan
with spectacular cyberpunk visuals that could scald the eyes of
viewers.
But although director Kazuaki Kiriya has created a glorious futuristic
world filled with sophisticated vehicles and gadgets, he has failed
to populate his landscape with interesting characters whom we can
identify with and care about.
The story about a hero who battles human-hating androids is standard
one that has been told many times — most recent example being
I, Robot with Will Smith. Despite its bright and shiny
visuals, watching Casshern is an emotionally-blank experience.
Strictly for manga/anime lovers.
