In Good Company

Director: Paul Weitz

Starring: Scarlett Johansson, Dennis Quaid, Topher Grace

Screening: 2005-03-08

We don't know about you younger fags, but many of us older fags
have a long-standing crush on Dennis Quaid. He's been giving us
huge hard-ons since we were teenagers with his boy-man good looks
and buff bod, and he continues to warm our loins today at the solid
age of 51.

In the good drama In Good Company, Dennis plays an ageing
advertising guru who suddenly finds his position overtaken by a
young hotshot (Topher Grace, the cute dork from That '70s Show)
who is half his age.

Despite the professional insult, Dennis cannot quit because his
wife (Marg Helgenberger) is pregnant again and his daughter (Scarlett
Johansson) needs money for her university education.

Dennis swallows his pride and continues working under the baby-faced
braggart Topher, and an unexpected bond develops between the two
men (no, not the homoerotic kind of bond — we wish!).

This film is honest and timely in examining the plight of older
workers all around the world who find themselves suddenly replaced
by arrogant young upstarts with flashy MBAs, Prada suits and big
mouths.

Despite the serious theme, the film is actually rather funny and
touching, boosted by the charismatic and believable performances
of Dennis and Topher. A should-watch for older fags.
