The Werewolf Hunt

Original Title: Romasanta

Director: Paco Plaza

Starring: Julian Sands, Elsa Pataky, John Sharian

Screening: 2005-07-05

This watchable pseudo-arthouse horror film is based on real events
that took place in Allariz, Spain in the 18th century. Several people
in a small town were being killed in what looked like wolf attacks.

The town folks carry out wolf-hunts but could not solve the problem.
People were still turning up dead. Was there a wolf in sheep's clothing
lurking among them?

In the real events that took place in the 18th century, the murderer
who was later caught claimed that he killed his victims because
he was a werewolf. This was never proven, and he was sent to a mental
asylum.

The movie, however, asserts that he was indeed a werewolf. The
film, unfortunately, has a grand total of ONE werewolf transformation.
And though it's an impressive non-CGI werewolf transformation, it
will probably not satisfy audiences who have been spoilt by the
barrage of special effects in movies like, yes, War of the Worlds.
