Singaporeans in UAE Have Sentence Reduced

A transgender woman and her friend arrested for cross-dressing in Abu Dhabi have sentence reduced to fine and deportation.

Two Singaporeans, one transgender, arrested in the United Arab Emirates earlier this month and sentenced to one year in prison have had their sentences reduced to a fine and deportation.

Freelance fashion photographer Muhammad Fadli Bin Abdul Rahman and his transgender friend Nur Qistina Fitriah Ibrahim—also known as Fifi—will pay 10,000 dirhams (about US$2270) and will be immediately deported, according to the Associated Press.

The pair arrived in the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on August 8 and were arrested at a mall the next day for feminine dressing, the Straits Times reported.

According to the Straits Times last week, the families of the pair were informed of the arrest by Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) last week. Then on Monday, they were told that Mr Fadli had been sentenced to a year's jail on Sunday (Aug 20).

Cross-dressing and homosexuality are both illegal in UAE.

in indonesia, transgender accept to dress like girl by society but not sure by politician and at work,,i dont think so.

in indonesia, you will be banned at work if your age over 40 years old, unless if you have own company.
example, if you go to hotel, none over 40 of workers mostly

i had met hotel/hospitality recruiters, they said they will banned workers that over 40 years old. that is the limittance, except only in little position.

so, if you are over 40 years old, you should better to avoid that places unless your money can be extorted with or without your consciousness.
look around ages where you are visiting, the workers ages and gender also malls.

In indonesia, transgender not accepted to work dress like women, unless you are regard as beggar, look like beggar on street to be laugh at

The world needs to stop "overlooking" these middle east countries that want to discriminate against ‎LGBT. If they don't want to get in synch with the rest of the world thinking then you are not allowed to trade with the rest of the world. I know some would say it's the oil, however, there can be enough financial pressure applied to incite change in this behavior of intolerance. It just takes enough people making a stand and saying no, we are not taking this anymore.

7, once in the UK a guy with a nose got sent to gaol.

He had robbed a bank but I think we (humans with noses) should be outraged.

It's 2017 and this nose phobia should be stamped out. Nuclear weapons if necessary.
